It is with great sadness that I have been informed that my dear friend and colleague, Sir Ketumile Masire, passed away. From about 2004 he served as a Member of the Global Leadership Foundation under my Chairmanship. His contributions to the activities of the Global Leadership Foundation have been of tremendous value to a number of governments, especially in Africa. Sir Ketumile was always prepared to serve when we called upon him and I have the highest appreciation for the positive and constructive role he played throughout his membership of the Global Leadership Foundation.

On a personal level we became good friends. His wisdom and his sense of humour was at difficult moments a great support to me and our other colleagues in the GLF.

On behalf of myself and the Foundation, I would like to extend our deepest sympathy to his family and friends and to all the people of the Republic of Botswana.

May his soul rest in peace.
