GLF Members Jose Ramos Horta and PJ Patterson both recently delivered Keynote addresses to students as part of Barrett, The Honors College’s Distinguished Global Leaders Series. In previous years, GLF Members have spent several weeks at the College, however due to the COVID-19 pandemicthis year, their talks took place over Zoom.

Ramos Horta’s talk took place on 5 October 2020 and focused on Multilateralism, while Patterson’s discussion took place on 12 November 2020 and focused more on his political journey as well as US-Caribbean relations.

“No matter to what faculty you belong, and regardless of your stage, every student will in due course realize the extent to which Arizona State University has helped to shape their character and form their mission in life. For integral to the great university traditions of teaching and research is empowering undergraduates to transform principles into further action in an unending cycle of knowledge generation, application in testing, and representation, which are the special attributes of all mankind. For no matter the differences of gender, color, religion, ethnicity, political systems, and wealth, we all belong to one race, the human race. And we all live on a single planet, where we must strive to create in that global space, a world of peace, prosperity, justice and tolerance.”
