GLF Member Vaira Vike-Freiberga visits Arizona

From January – March 2018, GLF Member Vaira Vike-Freiberga spent 6 weeks at the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University as the Scholar in Residence initiated by Barbara Barrett and arranged by GLF. The aim of the visit was to provide an opportunity for the Honors College students to hear at first hand the experience of a former leader and to add to the opportunities for GLF Members to add the perspectives of future leaders to their own extensive experience.


GLF welcomes Ellen Johnson Sirleaf as new Member

GLF is delighted to welcome new GLF Member Ellen Johnson Sirleaf.

As Africa’s first democratically-elected female head of state, Ellen Johnson Sirleaf led Liberia from 2006-18, through reconciliation and recovery following the nation’s decade-long civil war, as well as the Ebola Crisis, winning international acclaim for achieving economic, social, and political change.

In 2011 she won the Nobel Peace Prize.



GLF Project Director visits Dubai

Projects Director Amitav Banerji attended the World Government Summit in Dubai in February 2018, as an invitee of the Government of the United Arab Emirates. He participated as a member of a senior international group assembled to make recommendations on the promotion of Sustainable Development Goal 16 (which calls for ‘Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions’ to promote sustainable development). The group met under the chairmanship of Helen Clark, herself a GLF Member.
